Youth
Throughout my travels, I have always been deeply drawn to photographing youth. Traveling serves as a constant reality check: a revealing experience that makes me realize how fortunate I was to grow up with a full childhood shaped by play, education, and opportunity. This curated selection of photographs offers a visual journey through the diverse realities experienced by children and young people around the world. It shows how, even in the most adverse contexts marked by poverty and hardship, the essence of childhood persists: children continue to play, imagine, and find small sparks of joy in everyday life.
However, the other side of this coin exposes a much harsher truth: places where childhood is fractured or lost entirely to child labor, illness, violence, or an overwhelming lack of opportunity. Photographing youth is not merely capturing a face in a given moment; it is, ultimately, a way of bringing the light and shadows of our present into view. Every glance reflected in these images serves as a mirror that directly engages us, inviting us to reflect on our collective responsibility and urgently question what kind of future we are building for coming generations.
